Black grapes have many medicinal uses and have been used since centuries for therapeutic purposes. They are rich in flavonoids and polyphenols which have potent antioxidant, detoxifying and alkalizing properties.
Eat half a kilo of grapes daily with no other food, for three days. Afterwards you can have a glass of black grape juice with your normal diet. The swelling in the stomach lining will go, it’ll regain its health and will become strong and impervious to infections.

Gastritis means an abnormal inflammation in the stomach lining. It is caused by H. pylori infections or prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It can also result from chronic bile reflux, autoimmune disorders and anemia. The main symptoms are acute pain in the abdomen, nausea, excessive burping, vomiting and abdominal bloating.

Hydrochloric acid which is present in the digestive juices gets secreted in excessive quantities and begins to irritate and aggravate the condition so it is of the utmost importance to reduce the amounts of acids in the stomach. If left untreated, this condition can become chronic and lead to more serious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Tips To Cure Gastritis Naturally

Lemon Water: Miracle or Myth?
Add caption

Is lemon water really as good as everyone claims it is? The short answer is yes ...

Regularly drinking fresh lemon juice in water is Alkalizing. Fresh lemon juice is very sour and acidic however lemons are considered a very alkaline food. Despite the acidity of the juice, once it interacts with water molecules and enters the body it actually forms alkaline molecules that contribute to a healthy and balanced pH level.

One of the reasons is that lemon juice contains alkaline minerals such as magnesium and calcium. It is essential to maintain a balanced pH level in our bodies to prevent disease. It is true that our bodies tightly regulate our blood pH. However, our environment and the foods we eat often promote an acid pH outside of the bloodstream and cells. To counteract and prevent this harmful acid build up we need to eat and drink “alkaline forming” foods such as lemon water.

Stimulates the liver and digestion: A diet heavy in fat and animal based foods puts excess stress on liver function and impairs the smooth flow of bile, which is essential for optimal digestion.

A glass of lemon water in the morning is a simple way to stimulate the liver and promote bile flow which in turn aids in digestion. The acidic and photochemical properties of lemon “kick start” your digestive organs so they are ready to function well all day.
Lemon water also sometimes helps resolve heartburn symptoms by stimulating healthy stomach function. Anti-microbial: Lemon juice as has been traditionally used as a home remedy for a sore throat or cold. There is some merit to this use since lemons have anti-microbial properties.

A cup of warm water and lemon juice is a cheap and easy way to combat a sore throat. Despite its many benefits, lemon juice is sometimes touted as stimulating weight loss, building bone and combating heartburn. It can definitely indirectly contribute to general health. It will improve digestion and hydration which can indirectly promote better energy production.

Water is its own right should be taken in the morning to also promote digestion, flush out toxins and hydrate our cells. The morning lemon water habit can offset other morning habits such as drinking coffee that don’t have the same health benefits. A good dose is the juice of half a lemon mixed with 500mL of lukewarm water. Drink it on waking, 30 minutes before eating any food.  Cold water it can hamper blood flow to your stomach and thus impair digestion. Try a big glass of lemon water in the morning for a month and discover for yourself the power of simplicity. - See more at: http://mypurebalance.ca/blog/lemon-water-miracle-myth/#sthash.gT09iEb3.dpuf

Half a lemon squeezed in a glass of water once a day is enough vitamin C to combat colds and flu. In addition, lemon enhances the body’s ability to absorb iron, and thus is an important nutrient for a healthy immune system.

Lemon juice is similar to the structure of the digestive juices in the stomach and has a positive effect on the digestive tract. Therefore, lemon juice helps cleansing the bowels by flushing out waste and stimulating the release of gastric juices. It also helps with heartburn and flatulence.

The antioxidant properties of lemon help in fighting free radicals, which are responsible for the symptoms of aging. Because of this, use lemon if you want to look younger as much as you can.

Lemons contain pectin and soluble fibers, which is typical for the citruses. Thanks to pectin, it will keep you longer out of kitchen, and it will also keep you away from junk food when you feel hungry.

Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods which balance acidity in the body. Without this balance we are more susceptible to various infections.

Lemon juice is a diuretic which means it stimulates the production of urine. As a result, the toxins from the body leave faster than usual, and this helps the urinary tract health. In this way, one can change the pH value of the urinary tract and it will make harder for bacteria to expand and induce inflammation.

Antiseptic properties of lemon destroy bad bacteria in the mouth and the lemon juice acts as a disinfectant. A glass of water with lemon is much healthier option than a cup of coffee in the morning.

High levels of potassium in lemon help in better function of the brain and its control of blood pressure. Lemon and water also reduce stress and depression, since they are associated with a low level of potassium in the body.

Because of ascorbic acid, lemon improves healing of wounds in the body and is an important nutrient in maintaining healthy bone tissue and the cartilage.

Lemon also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Water with lemon acts as a liver cleanse or detox. It cleanses and stimulates the liver, stimulates the production of bile and acids needed for digestion, and it can also help in dissolving gallstones.

Head-To-Toe Beauty and Health Secrets of a Citrus Powerhouse

Boost your immune system, relieve a sore throat, soothe an upset stomach (as well as an array of digestive disturbances), purify your liver, exfoliate your skin, treat dandruff, prevent cancer, and possibly reduce your stress level?

Just grab a regular old lemon! This citrus fruit is one of the most versatile pieces of produce on the planet and has aided in cooking, health, and beauty secrets for hundreds (and in some cases, thousands) of years.

In the Kitchen

Lemon is a great way to get full flavor from foods without adding fat or salt. Try a squeeze of lemon as a zesty finishing touch on fresh veggies or fruits. And here’s another secret: not only does lemon taste great in marinades for chicken, fish and meat, but the acids help to break down the proteins and tissues, which tenderizes the meat.

In Your Basket of Health Secrets

A drink of hot water, lemon juice (and a teaspoon of honey, if need be) has been used for centuries to treat colds, throat infections, food cravings, stomach gas, and constipation. Adding a slice of lemon to hot herbal teas may also help relieve stress levels.

Lemons are overflowing with vitamin C, are low in calories, and high in potassium. They also contain compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.

To reap all the beneficial properties of lemons, try adding a few slices to your ice water. You should be drinking plenty anyway, and the fresh citrus flavor will make the routine not so much of a routine.

Lemons also assist in cleansing the liver--the health of which is vital to our overall well-being. The oils in lemons help stimulate our livers to expel toxins from our bodies.

Here is a cleanse Mireille uses occasionally. (You should do it only once or twice yearly. The end of winter is a perfect time for this detoxification, but you’ll know best when your body is craving some cleansing.)

Instructions: For a few days, eat lightly and first thing in the morning start your day with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and one tablespoon of lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar). Repeat for the next 4 days to one week at the very

Milk Kefir
Add caption
Kefir is a thick, microbial-rich cultured milk that can be extremely beneficial in re-balancing inner body ecology.
It is a tart yogurt-like fermented food that contains friendly bacteria and yeasts that work together to provide natural probiotic properties.
It has a long history, originating in the Caucasus mountain regions, between Turkey and Russia, where it was revered as a sacred food.

This is represented by its translation in Turkish meaning "to feel good."

"Kefir has tremendous healing power. With its laxative effect it helps clean the colon.  Its beneficial bacteria and yeast help control the pathogenic yeast and repopulate the colon with a favorable, new life force."
Kefir is traditionally made from cow or goat milk but, as an alternative to dairy, it can also be made with coconut meat/water or nut milk blends.

Benefits of Kefir Yogurt Drink

It is one of the best superfood drinks for re-establishing friendly flora in the intestinal tract. This "medicinal drink" coats the stomach lining and contains tryptophan, an amino acid that works with calcium and magnesium to relax the nerves.
"The body converts tryptophan into serotonin, an important chemical called a neurotransmitter; balanced serotonin levels can cure depression and constipation, induce sleep and prohibit waking during the night."

Kefir is, of course, great for anyone with candida and is often a necessary addition to the diet for complete colon health and restoration of the digestive tract.
Nutritional Value:
  • acts as a natural probiotic
  • balances inner body ecology
  • provides high quality enzymes
  • supplies B vitamins and amino acids
  • helps with proper digestion of foods
  • a source of good fats
  • contains an abundance of calcium and magnesium
  • gives essential friendly flora, like lactobacillus
  • builds the immune system

To ferment the coconut milk and/or nut milk, you need a kefir culture starter, which comes in the form of a powder or in the form of a grain. The grain is not really a "grain", but a rubbery, cauliflower-like mass that continues to grow the more you use it.
This is the traditional culture used to ferment kefir, but today many people use the starter powder out of convenience. The culture (or grain) is a blend of friendly yeast and bacteria that form a mix of lipids, sugars and proteins, which gel up into a thick, yogurt-like liquid consistency.
As it ferments, it develops a complex matrix of many different micro-organisms than can greatly improve the health of the colon
The "tara" grains of the Tibetan peoples are a cousin to this cultured grain, which has provided them with a similar fermented drink for eons.

As legends tell, "kee-fir" grains are said to have been passed down by Allah and delivered to the prophet Mohammed, who held them in his possession, sharing only with family.
But one day, it mistakenly ended up in the hands of a Russian acquaintance who then took it back to her country as a cherished drink that still exists today throughout that region.
The grain starter is made up of a polysaccharide known as kefiran, which reproduces itself during the process of fermentationThis allows for a continuous supply of grains, much like that of the kombucha mushroom and koji (used to ferment miso). Kefiran has also been shown to decrease blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

1)  Milk Kefir Grains

These grain cultures produce a thick liquid, yogurt-like drink that is traditionally made from dairy milk, but as we mentioned can also be made from nuts, seeds and coconut meat/water.
(See our coconut-kefir recipe.)
If you do make kefir from milk, we suggest using raw cow or goats milk.  To make this type of kefir, however, you will need to heat it initially to 92 degrees as there are enzymes in the "raw" dairy that may compete with the kefir culture.

2)  Water Kefir Grains

These grains can be used with sugar water, juice or coconut water.  Many people are now into making simple water kefirs that do not involve dairy or heavier nut based milks.  These are most ideal for those with candida who wish to reduce the amount of these foods in their diet.
Water kefir is made in the same way that you make milk kefirs and requires the same amount of time to ferment.

It is easy to make at home right on your kitchen counter. It is a simple 10-24 hour process that ferments the lactose content into a sour, tangy beverage.
Traditionally "kee-fir" is made with dairy milk, as we mentioned, but we like to use raw vegan substitutes that work just as well.
This includes nut milks and the use of coconut meat and juice from the Thai coconut. For a basic recipe see our coconut kefir recipe.
Quite often this fermented drink is combined with fruit and sweeteners (like yogurt) to make a sweet, tasty thick drink.
We like to add some of the top 10 superfoods, like bee pollen and goji berries, maybe a little blue green algae, along with any of the natural sweeteners, like stevia or raw honey. You can also add some to our superfood smoothie or shake recipe for an extra pro-biotic boost.

Using Kefir Grains or Starter

You don't necessarily need to use kefir grain culture because you can also buy starter packets that come in powdered form.
We personally prefer the whole grains as opposed to the powder.
We like to watch them grow and proliferate, knowing you can keep using them over and over again!

new Spanish study suggests virgin olive oil may help prevent and treat H. pylori infections, which are responsible for millions of cases of gastritis and peptic ulcers each year.
Preliminary laboratory tests show the antioxidant compounds found in virgin olive oil are effective against several strains of H. pylori bacteria, which infects the lining of the stomach.
Researchers say these results must now be replicated in humans. But if future studies confirm the findings, incorporating virgin olive oil into your diet may help treat or prevent painful stomach ulcers.

Virgin Olive Oil Good for Stomach
Researchers say previous studies show that other natural products rich in a class of antioxidants known as phenolic compounds -- such as red wine, green tea, and cranberry juice -- may inhibit the growth of H. pylori.
But until now the antibacterial properties of olive oil haven’t been evaluated.
They say virgin olive oil is unique because it is one of very few edible vegetable oils with high phenolic content.
In the study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, researchers used laboratory experiments to simulate conditions found in the human stomach in order to evaluate olive oil’s ability to fight H. pylori bacteria.
Researcher Conception Romero and colleagues of the University Hospital of Valme, in Seville, Spain, found that the healthy phenolic compounds in virgin olive oil remained stable for hours in simulated acidic conditions of the stomach.
These phenolic compounds also had a strong antibacterial effect. The results of the lab studies showed olive oil’s phenolic compounds were effective against eight strains of H. pylori, including three that are resistant to some antibiotics.

Risks of taking chamomile

1. Side effects

Chamomile is generally considered safe but can cause drowsiness. Excessive doses can trigger vomiting and allergic reactions. Chamomile is part of the daisy family and those allergic to daisies should avoid chamomile. The oil can be irritating to the eyes and should be kept away from sensitive areas.

2. Risks

Chamomile contains coumarin and has very mild blood thinning effects. The effect is most notable for large doses of chamomile that are taken over long periods of time. If you anticipate a surgical procedure, stop chamomile at least two weeks prior to the surgery date.

3. Interactions

Like any supplement or herbal product, talk to your doctor before adding chamomile supplements to your diet. Potential interactions include: aspirin, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen, sedatives and any blood thinning medication (Coumadin, Plavix, Pradaxa, aspirin, Lovenox). Chamomile has the potential to interact with other supplements. Ask your doctor or herbalist if you also take ginkgo biloba, saw palmetto, St. Johns wort, valerian or garlic.

4. Pregnancy

The best evidence shows that chamomile should be avoided during pregnancy. It has the potential to act on the uterine musculature and is felt to increase the risk of miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. It should be avoided in breastfeeding and consult your doctor before giving chamomile to infants.

5. Recommended dosage

Data from studies cite a range between 400 mg up to 1,600 mg per day. Start low and gradually increase until the desired health benefits occur.
